Becoming a Full Member

 

We appreciate your interest in becoming a member of the St. Charles Sportsmen's Club, one of Illinois’ premier gun club’s. Our club is dedicated to shooting sports, gun safety, fellowship and sportsmanship. We welcome prospective members who share our values for the outdoors and shooting sports and who wish to contribute to our club.

 

The following steps must be followed to obtain Membership:

 

Meeting Starts 7:00 pm on the first Monday of the month check-in 6:30

Holiday Mondays meeting will be moved to Wednesday same times.

 

1.    Complete a current membership application and waiver.

2.     You will need a sponsor that is a current voting Full member in good standing. The sponsor will be responsible for the character and conduct of the probationary member. The sponsor must verify that he/she has known the applicant for at least 6 months. The sponsor must supply the required information on the applicant’s application.

Applicants without a sponsor can request an interview with a Chief Range safety officer, if approved the club will act as their sponsor.

3.     A current FOID card is required for all Illinois residents with your application. It is your responsibility to bring this copy with your application. Out-of-state residents will be governed by their state laws.

4.    Attend a membership meeting held on the 1st Monday of each month at 7pm in the clubhouse check-in by 6:30. Your sponsor will be asked to introduce you, and you will be asked to tell Membership about yourself. Your sponsor will then be required to attend the mandatory safety meeting if they do not have the 4-digit code on their club ID. The Safety class and Orientation will be held the following Saturday at 9am Sharp (total time 9am till about 1PM)

5.    A (non-refundable) one-time Family initiation fee of $400.00 and the pro-rated current membership dues for the year will be collected that night. (ask us about family members opportunity to join under the 400.00 fee)

6.    You will serve a 6-month probationary period beginning the month that you join.

7.    You will need to Complete 8 work hours within the 6-month probationary period. Work hours can be earned on work Saturdays between 8:00am and 12:00pm, generally on the third Saturday of each month. Other opportunities will be offered during the month watch for e-mail blast.

8.    Attend a new member Orientation Meeting. Orientation is held the Saturday following the first Monday of each month at approximately 11am. Check the club calendar for dates. No exceptions.

9.    Upon being voted in as full member after your 6-month probationary period, you will need to attend a “Machine Training” class to learn how to open and load the trap and Skeet machines. After attending this class, you will be eligible to purchase club and skeet house keys for $3.00 each. Proximity cards can be purchased for $10.00.

Once your probationary period begins, we welcome you to use club facilities as if you were a member. Our probationary members are entitled to "member rates" for all shooting activities. Your membership includes your spouse, minor children under 21, (under 24 with college ID) and grandchildren. While on club grounds you must accompany them. There is no sharing of membership badges.

If you come to the membership meeting without all the proper documentation and sponsor, You will be turned away and asked to return next month with all of the above. 

After you are voted in as a full member, annual dues and 4 work hours annually will be required each year. If you choose not to perform your work hours, you will be billed $50.00 per hour for un-worked hours.
